The Grumman AA-5X Traveler/Cheetah/Tiger has finally made it to the RC world!

CAD Drawn from factory 3-views, this 18% scale Grumman Cheetah/Tiger promises to be a great handling and good looking sport scale model of the well known General Aviation aircraft.  It's super stable USA35B airfoil will provide excellent lift with docile stall characteristics.  Functional flaps deploy to a scale like 40° to induce drag allowing for smooth approaches and short landing roll. Designed as an advanced scale aileron trainer.

Ease of construction is key to this design.  The fuselage is a simple tapered box design with turtledeck former/stringers.  Tail feathers are sport scale style and built up from 5/16" balsa and spruce.  Lasercut pieces mean exact fitment for a strong and light structure. Wing cores are cut on a 5 axis CNC hot wire system. Spar slots, wing joiner tube bore and servo lead bores are pre-cut.

Laser cutting provides perfectly cut pieces that fit exactly as they should.

Wing panels are removable and the 6061 aluminum landing gear is bolted to the fuselage which makes for easy transporting. Setup/Breakdown time is about 3 minutes.

Currently the prototype is being built.  As soon as it's completed and test flights are complete, kits and plans will be available.
