Intake system & Carb/Carb Heat Box installed

10.0

engine

DETAIL:

Built the intake tubes from the heads down to the Stromberg NAS-3A1 carb.  I used 1.5" mild steel.  I may switch to aluminum at a later date.

I used U-Bends from Magnum Force Racing.  You can cut them up and use the pieces to get a custom install.  I used one of the U-bends as a "Y" pipe where the carb meets the left and right intake tubes. Weight of the entire intake is about 4.5lb.  If I switch to aluminum I'm sure I could get it to be less than 2lb.

I also fabricated a bracket from .050 4130 that mounts the carb to the firewall.

Silicone hose couplers are used in 4 locations.  2 up near the heads and 2 down by the carb.  This will keep any movement between the engine and the carb isolated.

Throttle cable has been run from the throttle lever in the cockpit to the carb lever.  I used a slick aluminum firewall collet nut that secures the throttle cable and keeps it from slipping at the firewall. AS&S has them for about $10 ea.
