Made landing gear jig to test fit parts

1.0

fuselage

DETAIL:

I built a simple jig to test fit the landing gear parts.  I bought used J-3 Cub landing gear parts from a few guys online.  All the parts came from separate people so I wanted to be sure it would all assemble together correctly on a GN-1.  I used some 1/2" particle board cut to the proper width of my GN-1 fuselage.  I'm 98% sure I'm going to widen my fuselage 2". so I cut the board at 24 1/4" and screwed on the metal landing gear attach brackets.  Everything lined up great except the center cabane vee.  It's a bit too wide for a GN-1 (even a widened one)  The J-3 is about 26" wide.  I'll probably need to cut my cabane vee down an inch or so on each end and re-weld the bushings for a better fit.  Other than that all is well.

I've got access to a nice welding rig, but have never welded before. My dad's hand at welding is not too bad.  I'm going to buy a bunch of scrap material and have him help me learn.  If I feel confident in my abilities I'll try modifying the cabane vee myself.  I might as well learn because there are several areas that will require welding in the near future.
