After seeing Mark Langford's Corvair intake pictures on his website: http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/corvair/intake.html I decided I would like to try the same method. I milled off the stock Corvair carb flange with a wooden jig and router/carbide cutter (see this link for those pictures). I then bought a 6061 U-Pipe from Burns Stainless. When cut in half it leaves you with 2 very nice 90 degree intake pipes. There's a welder on the field here at Falcon Field (FFZ) who did a fabulous job welding the pipes onto my heads. He charged me $25 a head which I thought was a hell of a deal! His welds are very nice. Next I'll have him weld the oil filler tube to
my top cover and weld some AN fittings to my oil cooler. |
