Corvair Top Covers - 6061 CNC milled

1.0

engine

DETAIL:

Several weeks ago I drew up a CAD drawing for the Corvair top cover.  I wanted something a bit more decorative than just a flat piece of 3/16" aluminum.  I decided on a design with "cooling ribs".  While they may be somewhat functional, they are mostly just there for looks.

I left some flat spots on two corners.  They are there to allow for drilling and mounting of the oil filler spout.  Either corner can be used.

The fit of the final part is perfect.  The plate follows the contours of the case exactly.  They need to be hand polished because they show some tool marks from the mill.  Overall they are good quality.

They weigh 1.9 lbs.  Pictures below.
