Welded landing gear channel spreader assy.

4.0

fuselage

DETAIL:

I purchased some .75" x 1.25"  .10 wall 4130 rectangle tubing from shapirosupply.com to use for the channel spreaders on the landing gear. I've been practicing my welding and have got to the point where I trust the strength of the welds and I'm not worried about burning through.  The welds aren't always pretty but most look good enough.  I decided to jig up the channel spreaders with the landing gear brackets and go for it.  I tack welded everything in place with it bolted to the fuselage, then took the assembly off and finish welded it.  All in all I'm pleased.  The welds look good and are 100% strong. It's almost time to bolt up the landing gear legs and get this thing rolling!

I'll admit....  metal working is not my forte, but I'm glad that I know I can weld if I need to.  In fact, The more I weld the more fun it becomes!
