Put the front cockpit throttle control in today. I had an extra lever from y rear cockpit quadrant. The quadrant I had was a 3 control (throttle, mixture, prop). I took the prop control off and used it for the front. I made some Delrin spacers/bearings from some scrap 3/8" Delrin pieces I bought on ebay for $9. Delrin is a wonderful thing. I bought enough of it to last a lifetime. It's great for things like this or for making fairleads. I cut some discs of it on my band saw. I then drilled a 3/16" hole through the middle through which I screwed some AN3 bolts. I then chucked the bolt up into my cordless drill. While spinning the bolt/Delrin disc and holding it against my 12" disc sander with 80 grit I managed to get nice perfectly round Delrin spacers/bearings. This method is called the poor mans lathe!
I've also spent a few hours prepping the tail
feathers for the final coat of varnish. They are just about ready for
covering! |
