Front Panel, Firewall & Fuselage Combing |

Today I cut out the firewall from
1/4" ply. I also cut the front cockpit instrument sub panel from 1/4" ply.
After gluing them in place I decided to tackle the task of fabricating the front
fuselage combing. I have a bunch of .032 Aluminum sheet so that is what I
used. It's a bit overkill as it should of been thinner like maybe .020" but
oh well. It was challenging to get the combing to the proper size and shape but with patience everything came out fine. I am using 4-40 allen head machine screws and "blind nuts" to secure the combing to the fuse. I spaced them at 2". There are 10 on each side holding the combing in place. After I had secured the combing I tried a bit of "engine turning" on the aluminum. I originally intended to paint it but after doing the engine turning I may keep it. Gives it a nice 1930's look.
